How insightful this lady is and so personable too. I read her book "Choose to Be Happy" multiple times over the years and even bought copies for a few dear friends when they were going through very trying times. When I saw that she wrote Aging-itis I could not wait to get a copy. Another home run from an author who is not afraid to tell her story. My big takeaway is if she can survive so can I (only I'm not funny). Rima, if you read this you are COURAGE and a SURVIVOR and we all can learn from you because ATTITUDE is everything!

Rima Rudner takes a very serious subject, addresses it and treats it seriously while at the same time keeping it very entertaining. Her humor kept me laughing. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is aging and wants to make the most of their life. There are lots of great lessons to be learned here and the fact that one can laugh while learning is unique and life changing.

Now that Im getting older (53), I can look back at things and laugh. You GOTTA laugh about it all or else be miserable and I definitely don't want that. Rima finds the humor easily and I can relate. I identified with similar scenarios she wrote about and I admit, I laughed a lot and was touched by her honesty and even teared up in a few places...Thanks for an easy read and a smile on my face :)

Psychology Today (Jen Kim)
I'm partial to soul-mate books that teach women how to find their white night, prince charming or George Clooney look-a-like: Just follow these simple steps/rules which usually require us to be the complete antithesis of ourselves. ie: bitchy, unavailable and aloof.
I also like books about happiness-my favorite is Choose To Be Happy by Rima Rudner. Rudner is a regular woman, not a therapist, who has developed thoughtful insights and keys to finding true joy. She grew up with abusive parents, suffered various psychological, financial, and physical traumas, yet still managed to cultivate a lucrative career, fulfilling love life, and buy a house in the Pacific Palisades, which we all know is the true sign of happiness.
Is it weird that my favorite self-help book isn't written by an actual psychologist? It kind of makes sense. Rudner doesn't speak to me in esoteric psychological jargon nor does she attack me for what I am doing wrong with my life. Instead, she fills the pages with real, intuitive and sometimes painful anecdotes about her struggles and her victories. Reading her book feels like consulting a good friend, not a doctor prescribing what's wrong with you, which is what I usually feel after reading some self-help books .Suddenly I realized that the best self-help books don't necessarily have to be about self-help.

Must bedtime reading every day Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2010.Verified Purchase I have read numerous books on personal development. I found Choose To Be Happy an excellent collection of ideas already published and known at other sources. The beauty of the book is that it is all in one place. And a practical guide. For maximum benefit, one needs to read the whole book, and then read five to ten pages every night before sleeping. It will do wonders to find Happiness. It is a well thought out and well written book. I recommend to everyone and anyone making an effort for personal development, seeking a happy and balanced life.
The book brings in the idea of 15%. Here is a 15% one. If one is able to use only 15% of ideas put forth in the book, one's life will be 15 times better.

Makes a GREAT gift! Love, love, love this book! I love this book so much, I have now purchased the Kindle version, and have it with me on my iPad everywhere I go. I bought the print version several years ago following the death of my husband. The practical insights and strategies are common sense, yet meaningful great reminders to accept responsibility for your own well-being. I have given this book as a gift, and the recipient loved it every bit as much as I did!
